Facebook Chat kann bald Jabber/XMPP
Das Facebook Developer Blog ist immer wieder für eine Überraschung gut. Mit dem Hinweis, dass Facebook Chat gut angenommen wurde, wird jetzt die Öffnung nach ausen verkündet - Using Facebook Chat via Jabber:
Right now we’re building a Jabber/XMPP interface for Facebook Chat. In the near future, users will be able to use Jabber/XMPP-based chat applications to connect to Facebook Chat to:
- Communicate with their friends
- See which of their friends are online and view their profile pictures
- Set their statuses
Das ist erstens eine wunderbare Entwicklung für die Jabber/XMPP-Community und zweitens macht es extrem viel Sinn, für die Kommunikation auf offene Standards zu setzen und damit Facebook Chat für viele User und Anwendungen nutzbar zu machen.
